TL;DR
- Don't judge a LinkedIn signal tool by how busy its feed looks. Look at what it monitors, how it qualifies engagement, what context it adds and whether the resulting signals are useful to your team.
- In SignalRaven data, about 3% of people who engage with a monitored post become qualified signals, or roughly 1 in 30. On competitor company pages, about 3 in 10 reactors work for the company being monitored.
- Raw engagement gets noisy quickly, so use your own ICP, sources and competitors when evaluating a tool.
Every LinkedIn signal-tool demo can produce a busy feed. The real questions are what the tool monitors, how it turns engagement into qualified signals, what intelligence it adds and whether those signals are useful to your team. Spend the demo understanding what happens between engagement and a signal.
How to use this checklist in a demo
Bring your ICP, a few competitor pages, an upcoming conference relevant to your market, and phrases practitioners actually use. Ask each vendor to demonstrate the questions below using your setup rather than a prepared demo account.
For each capability, mark it as Demonstrated, Supported, Roadmap or Not supported. A roadmap item isn't the same as shipped functionality that simply wasn't shown, and the 12 capabilities won't matter equally to every team. Decide which ones matter most to yours before comparing vendors. The printable sheet at the end has a column for that.
Which LinkedIn conversations does it monitor?
1. What LinkedIn sources can it monitor?
Your market isn't only talking on your company's page. Relevant conversations happen on competitor pages, partner pages and posts that mention companies you care about. Ask what the tool can monitor beyond your own content.
SignalRaven monitors your own page, any company's page and posts that mention companies you choose to track.
2. Can it follow specific people and keywords, and tell which posts are relevant?
Relevant conversations also happen under posts from industry experts, practitioners and other people your market follows. Ask whether the tool can monitor posts from specific people as well as search LinkedIn by keyword or topic. Keyword search casts the widest net, so ask how the tool decides which posts are worth collecting engagement from.
SignalRaven does both. It evaluates post relevance before qualifying the people who engage, which separates useful conversations from broad keyword noise.
3. Can it monitor and qualify activity around conferences?
Conferences create a concentrated window of LinkedIn activity around an industry, topic or event. Ask whether the tool can identify and qualify relevant people engaging around a conference before, during and after the event, and whether it starts early enough to book meetings before everyone arrives.
SignalRaven Conference Intelligence, the event source in the portal, follows one conference for its whole cycle. It wakes up about three weeks before the first day, runs daily through the event week and winds down the week after. People who post that they're attending, speaking or exhibiting, and the people who engage with those posts, go through the same qualification process as every other source.
How does it turn engagement into qualified signals?
4. Does it qualify individual people or only accounts?
An account-level signal tells you a company may be relevant. A person-level signal tells you who actually engaged. Ask whether the tool identifies the individual behind the activity and whether it can connect activity from multiple people back to the same account.
Each SignalRaven signal identifies an individual person. Account Intelligence adds the broader company context and helps surface the people surrounding an account.
5. How does it evaluate ICP fit?
A single fit score can hide why someone qualified or fell short. Ask whether the tool shows the individual factors behind qualification.
SignalRaven evaluates five ICP dimensions independently: title and role, market affinity, industry, company size and location. Each enabled dimension has its own threshold, and the breakdown arrives with the signal.
6. How does it handle staff, sellers and influencers?
Raw engagement can include the monitored company's own employees, competing vendors, consultants and other people who may not belong in the same workflow. In SignalRaven data, about 3 in 10 people who react to a competitor's company-page post work at that company. Ask how the tool identifies these groups and what happens to each one. In the demo, monitor a competitor's page, open the resulting signals and check where each person works.
SignalRaven filters out staff from tracked companies and sellers. Consultants, agencies and systems integrators are labeled as influencers or excluded, depending on your settings.
7. Can it explain why a signal qualified?
Ask what percentage of engagement becomes a signal, but don't treat a lower pass rate as automatically better. Source mix, ICP breadth and qualification rules all affect the number. More importantly, ask what gets filtered, what passes and whether the tool can explain why.
In SignalRaven data, about 3% of people who engage with a monitored post become qualified signals, or roughly 1 in 30. Each signal includes its ICP breakdown and a why-it-matters note, so your team can see why the person qualified. The 14-stage qualification process walks through what happens in between.
8. Does it recognize repeat person and account activity?
One engagement can be interesting. Repeated engagement from the same person, or activity from several people at the same company, provides additional context. Ask whether the tool treats every engagement independently or recognizes patterns over time.
SignalRaven raises urgency when the same person or company produced other signals in the last 90 days, on every plan. Pro and Scale add the signal stack view, and Account Intelligence gives a company-level view of activity across an account.
What reaches your team?
9. What context and prioritization arrive with each signal?
Ask to see a complete signal, including one created from a reaction rather than a comment. A comment gives the tool text to work with. A reaction doesn't, which makes reaction-based signals a useful test of how much context the product adds on its own.
A SignalRaven signal includes the person, title, company, LinkedIn profile, original post, post summary, ICP breakdown, urgency from 1 to 10 and why it matters. If the person commented, their words are included. Signals at urgency 5 and above also include talking points and a suggested opener.
10. Where can signals be delivered, integrated and queried?
Can signals reach the tools your team already uses, and can you control which signals go where? Ask about direct destinations, routing rules and API access. Then ask whether the AI tools your team already uses can work with the signal data, and what permissions those tools receive.
SignalRaven delivers directly to Slack, Google Sheets, Notion, Clay, n8n and signed webhooks. Each destination can set a minimum urgency, so qualification carries through to where the signal lands. CRMs and sequencers connect through a webhook plus an automation tool, and there's a REST API.
SignalRaven's MCP server connects to ChatGPT and Claude through OAuth. An assistant can work with your signals, sources and ICP, while anything that spends credits or changes delivery needs its own named permission on the consent screen.
What does it do with your LinkedIn account and your data?
11. How does it access LinkedIn?
Ask whether the tool requires a LinkedIn login, session cookie or browser extension tied to a user's account, and understand what activity it performs through that account.
SignalRaven monitors public LinkedIn activity without requiring your LinkedIn login, cookies or session. Its optional Chrome extension doesn't change that model.
12. What does it store, and what happens when you leave?
Get every vendor's retention period and deletion process in writing, and ask whether your data is kept separate from other customers'.
SignalRaven stores signal data (qualified engagement records, enriched profiles, signal scores, talking points) and your configuration (sources, ICP, thresholds, destinations). It stores no LinkedIn credentials or access tokens, and your data is isolated from other customers. When you cancel, your plan ends at the next billing date and your data stays accessible during the wind-down. Under SignalRaven's privacy policy, account data is deleted 30 days after cancellation.

After the demo, test it on your own ICP
Run the top tools against the same ICP and sources for the same period. Compare:
- How many useful signals each produces.
- How much irrelevant engagement gets through.
- How clearly each signal explains why the person qualified.
- Whether repeated person or account activity is recognized.
- How much context arrives with the signal.
- Whether your team can act without doing additional research.
A tool that filters hard sends fewer signals. Judge it by how many of those your team would act on. SignalRaven's trial gives you 2,500 free credits with no card and runs the full qualification process on your real ICP and sources.
FAQ
What is a LinkedIn signal tool?
A LinkedIn signal tool monitors relevant LinkedIn activity, identifies the people engaging and helps determine which activity is relevant to your ICP. More advanced tools also add qualification, context, prioritization and delivery workflows. Some vendors call it an engagement-signal tool.
What share of engagers does a LinkedIn signal tool qualify?
It varies with the tool, the source mix and the ICP, so ask each vendor for its rate on your setup. In SignalRaven data, about 3% of people who engage with a monitored post become a qualified signal (roughly 1 in 30). That's SignalRaven's observed rate, not an industry benchmark.
Can a LinkedIn signal tool get my account restricted?
Ask whether the tool requires access to your LinkedIn account and what activity it performs through that account. SignalRaven monitors public activity without using your LinkedIn login, cookies or session.
Does SignalRaven give you email addresses or phone numbers?
No. Each signal carries the person's LinkedIn URL, and teams add an email step in their own flow.
Does SignalRaven connect to my CRM?
Yes, through a signed webhook plus an automation tool such as Zapier, Make or n8n.
